Before digging, make sure that all utilities have responded to your locate request. While placing your request with Miss Utility of Virginia, a damage prevention specialist will advise you as to which utility owners will be notified.
The underground facilities located on your property will be identified by a special color coded paint, stakes and/ or flags.The color chart below serves as a guide to identify the underground utility lines.
It is the responsibility of the caller to contact a locating company to locate privately owned utility lines. Some examples of privately owned and installed lines include but are not limited to lines powering yard lights, gas lamps, underground sprinkler system and invisible fences.
